Abstract: The circular economy is an economic model that aims to minimize waste and maximize resource utilization. It proposes a closed cycle of production and consumption by keeping products, materials, and resources in use for as long as possible, encouraging reuse, repair, renewal, and recycling. The initial idea for applying the circular economy at the mortar factory studied was based on the realization that, for each bag of mortar sold, after use, the packaging was often discarded by construction sites without any concern for the environment. To mitigate this problem, the proposed solution was to incorporate cellulose fiber from discarded packaging into the mortar manufacturing process. This solution, which will be referred to in this work as Sustainable Mortar, is used. The use of cellulose fiber from mortar packaging in the manufacturing process offered several advantages, such as improved mortar strength and durability, crack control, reduced use of chemical additives, and greater process sustainability. Furthermore, for the consumer, there was a reduction in costs by no longer having to pay for the outsourcing of the collection, transportation and proper disposal service for the mortar bags used.
