Abstract: The use of low-level laser therapy in the dental environment has been increasingly applied as a complementary treatment in various areas. Its main use is in cases where the patient experiences pain, inflammation, or requires tissue repair. It uses monochromatic light, which promotes tissue healing. This therapy offers several advantages, the main one being that it is painless and comfortable for patients. The objective of the present study was to present low-level laser therapy as a complement to traditional dental treatments, covering various oral conditions and dental specialties. The methodology used in the study was a narrative literature review. The databases used for this research were: PubMed, SciELO, CAPES, and Google Scholar. The selected articles range from 2019 to 2025. The exclusion criteria were: literature reviews not published in journals, duplicate articles, and articles unrelated to the proposed topic. In the end, 21 scientific articles, 1 book and 1 Resolution were selected to support this study. This therapy can be used in postoperative surgery, in endodontics by reducing the number of microorganisms in the root canal, as well as in restorative dentistry, periodontics, orthodontics, implantology, orofacial harmonization, and pediatric dentistry. To make effective use of this technology, the professional must be well-trained, requiring proper education and study. Contraindications and limitations for its use must be taken into account. Research on this therapy must be ongoing, which is essential to ensure its benefits and establish its clinical protocols.
