Antioxidante para o tratamento da catarata
De acordo com a Organização Mundial de Saúde (OMS), a catarata é uma doença muito comum no Brasil, atingindo mais de 50% da população acima de 40 anos. A enfermidade consiste no envelhecimento do cristalino -conhecido como lente do olho- causando o embaçamento da visão e, em casos mais graves, levando à cegueira. Porém, mesmo sendo tão frequente, ainda não existe um tratamento para a mesma, além da cirurgia, a qual apresenta longas filas de espera para consulta pelo SUS, além de ter um valor alto para o atendimento particular. Tendo em vista esta problemática, surgiu a ideia de encontrar um novo método para o tratamento: desenvolver um colírio fitoterápico antioxidante a partir do brócolis, utilizando quatro antioxidantes (quercetina, luteína, B- Caroteno e zeaxantina), capaz de retardar o envelhecimento do cristalino, causador da catarata. Tal método possibilita uma alternativa mais acessível e menos invasiva que a cirurgia, além de eventualmente retardar a evolução da doença. Para a realização deste projeto, algumas etapas foram necessárias, como análise documental do cristalino, anatomia do olho humano, oxidação da proteína e ação dos radicais livres. A fim de entender a viabilidade da pesquisa científica, foi construído um questionário para o público, onde 95% das pessoas que responderam acreditam que este é um projeto relevante para a sociedade. Foi realizada também a extração dos brócolis, especificamente da quercetina, feita por agitação magnética e filtração a vácuo. Em suma, os pontos apresentados são importantes para o resultado final do projeto, sendo este a criação de um colírio fitoterápico antioxidante a partir dos brócolis, para o tratamento da doença, atendendo à problemática citada.

Abstract:
According to the Organização Mundial de Saúde (OMS), cataract is a very common disease in Brazil, affecting more than 50% of the population over 40 years of age. The disease consists of the aging of the lens - known as the lens of the eye - causing blurring of vision and, in more severe cases, leading to blindness. However, even though it is so frequent, there is still no treatment for it, other than surgery, which has long waiting lines for consultation by the SUS, in addition to having a high value for private care. In view of this problem, the idea arose of finding a new method for the treatment: to develop an antioxidant herbal eye drops from broccoli, using four antioxidants (quercetin, lutein, B-carotene and zeaxanthin), capable of delaying the aging of the lens. , which causes cataracts. This method provides a more accessible and less invasive alternative than surgery, in addition to eventually delaying the progression of the disease. To carry out this project, some steps were necessary, such as documentary analysis of the lens, anatomy of the human eye, protein oxidation and the action of free radicals. In order to understand the feasibility of scientific research, a questionnaire was built for the public, where 95% of the people who responded believe that this is a relevant project for society. Broccoli was also extracted, specifically quercetin, by magnetic stirring and vacuum filtration. In short, the points presented are important for the final result of the project, which is the creation of an antioxidant eye drops for the treatment of the disease, given the aforementioned problem.
