Abstract: The city of Juliaca is known as the city of the winds, but to date no research has been carried out to demonstrate the true wind potential that exists in the area. To meet this objective, a 300 Watt horizontal axis wind turbine was used in order to obtain electrical energy generation parameters and calculate the performance, plant factor and wind speed conditions of the Santa María de Ayabacas area. A 300 Watt vertical axis wind turbine was used which was installed on the roof of the Professional School of Renewable Energy Engineering located at the Ayabacas Headquarters at a height of 10 meters high and through a datalogger the data was stored in a Micro SD card for the established time according to the previously configured schedule. Once the data has been stored, these data are downloaded to a PC and then analyzed using statistical software which has allowed us to evaluate the performance of the vertical axis wind turbine, calculate the plant factor and determine the wind speed for the real conditions of the place.
