Abstract: This study focuses on the diagnosis and improvement of public lighting in the city of Puno, Peru. A diagnosis of 226 existing sodium vapor public lighting units was carried out, finding deficiencies in energy efficiency and lighting quality. With the aim of improving the use of public lighting, photovoltaic solar panels and LED lights are incorporated. In addition, a hybrid system was designed that effectively integrates the LED equipment and the solar panel for street lighting, making the most of the available solar energy and guaranteeing continuous and reliable lighting at night. The implementation of this hybrid system will not only contribute to the reduction of energy consumption, but will also improve the quality of life of citizens by providing safer and more efficient lighting on the streets of the city of Puno.
