Abstract: Objective: This study aims to investigate the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on traffic accident rates, particularly the increased incidence of trauma admissions during the pandemic, linked to a surge in delivery services. Method: A cross-sectional study was conducted using data from the Brazilian Unified Health System (SUS) collected from DATASUS, accessed on 12/09/2022. The study focused on traffic accident victims during the COVID-19 pandemic, with data analyzed using various variables, including year of data processing (March 2019 - August 2021), region, gender, nature of the accident (emergency, work-related, commuting, and other types), and age. Results: The Southeast region showed the highest number of traumas involving bicycle and motorcycle accidents, representing 40.3% of all accidents during the analyzed period, with a gradual increase from 2019 to 2021. Male individuals accounted for 83.1% of accidents, and young adults aged 15-49 were the most affected age group. Conclusion: The data suggest that the increase in trauma cases from traffic accidents during the COVID-19 pandemic is associated with the rising use of delivery services, both through apps and associated with businesses. This trend is particularly pronounced in the Southeast region, affecting a significant portion of the economically active population, with direct implications for the country's economy and public healthcare expenditures.
