Abstract: Squamous intraepithelial cervical neoplasias (CIN) represent precursor stages of cervical squamous cancer. This study aimed to conduct an epidemiological survey of SIN cases in women from the state of Maranhão. To do so, a search was performed for the number of cases made available by DATASUS, and the frequency of variables related to age groups and histopathological results, followed by the calculation of incidence rates for three-year periods to create maps. The results obtained indicated the occurrence of 2,220 cytopathological exams conducted between 2013 and 2021, which are categorized as CIN I, CIN II, and CIN III. The year 2013 had the lowest number of exams conducted. The age group with the highest prevalence was 40 to 44 years for patients with histopathological diagnoses of CIN I (13.80%), 30 to 34 years for CIN II (17.46%), and 35 to 39 years for CIN III (18.05%). The data revealed a high number of NIC II cases with lesions suggestive of cancer. The highest incidence rates of NIC were found in the city of Imperatriz. The data underscore the importance of implementing educational campaigns for women, particularly those who are socioeconomically vulnerable.
