Abstract: Objective: To analyze the structure and characteristics of the installed and qualified network of highly complex oncological care for the treatment of breast cancer in the Brazilian public health system in the state of Pernambuco. Methods: Descriptive study with a quantitative approach. The information was obtained at the service units, through the application of questionnaires based on the Ministry of Health ordinance, which deals with the qualification of oncology services. Data from the Health Establishment Registry was also used in 2015 and 2016. Results: Relevant differences were observed between hospitals accredited by the Unified Health System. Of the eight hospitals in the network, only two have all the services required by the Ministry of Health The lack of human resources and adequate infrastructure leads to lack of control over the organization of patient care flow, interfering with hospital production. Conclusion: The highly complex breast cancer treatment network is not sufficiently structured to promote timely and comprehensive treatment for patients in units accredited by the Unified Health System. There is a need to reevaluate the structure of the oncology care network in the state of Pernambuco, as a way of promoting timely access, with universal, equitable and comprehensive care for patients with breast cancer, as established by the Ministry of Health.
