Abstract: Exogenous intoxication constitutes a significant public health issue, characterized by exposure to toxic agents present in the external environment. This study aimed to analyze the epidemiological profile of exogenous intoxication cases reported in the municipalities of Petrolina-PE and Juazeiro-BA between the years 2023 and 2024. This is a descriptive study with a quantitative approach, based on secondary data from the Notifiable Health Conditions Information System (SINAN). The results indicated a predominance of cases among females, particularly in the 10 to 29-year age group, with a higher occurrence among individuals self-identified as mixed race (pardo). The home environment was the primary setting of exposure, with medications being the most frequently involved toxic agents, predominantly via the oral route. Suicide attempt emerged as the main circumstance of intoxication, especially in Petrolina, showing a significant association with the female sex. Despite the high hospitalization rate, most cases resulted in recovery without sequelae. The findings underscore the need for intersectoral strategies aimed at prevention, qualified epidemiological surveillance, and the strengthening of mental health services in the studied region.
