Abstract: Pediatric polytrauma is the most common cause of injury in children under one year of age and occurs worldwide. Compared to adults, children have a higher frequency of multisystem injuries due to greater energy absorption per unit area. Additionally, they have limited adipose tissue, less elastic connective tissue, and organs that are closer together. Polytrauma is defined by the presence of two or more traumatic injuries, or even one if there is a risk to life or a risk of severe sequelae. Among the most common traumas in pediatrics are traumatic brain injuries of varying severity, often associated with injuries to other parts of the body. The prognosis of trauma can be determined by the care provided in the first few minutes, especially in pediatrics, where patients are more fragile biomechanically, requiring special knowledge, precise management, and attention to small details.
