ANÁLISE DE RETRADUÇÕES BRASILEIRAS DO CONTO THE IMP OF THE PERVERSE, DE EDGAR ALLAN POE
Este trabalho tem como objetivo analisar alguns aspectos das traduções brasileiras do conto The Imp of the Perverse, do escritor norte-americano Edgar Allan Poe, de 1944 até o início do século XXI, a partir dos questionamentos sobre retradução levantados pelo teórico Antoine Berman (2007). Haja vista a importância do papel que a primeira tradução tem em relação às traduções posteriores, o estudo parte da primeira tradução para o francês, de Charles Baudelaire, observando as escolhas lexicais e comparando-as com as traduções brasileiras, para verificar até onde a primeira tradução se assemelha às demais retraduções. O estudo busca encontrar elementos que comprovem uma reflexão e um diálogo diacrônico entre o tradutor da primeira tradução e os tradutores das retraduções.

Abstract:
This work aims to analyze some aspects of the Brazilian translations for Edgar Allan Poe’s short tale The Imp of the Perverse, from 1944 till the beginning of the 21st century, based on retranslation issues raised by Antoine Berman (2007). In view of the important role of the first translation in relation to posterior ones, this study starts from the first French translation, by Charles Baudelaire, observing lexical choices and comparing them with the Brazilian works, in order to verify similarities between the first translation and the Brazilian retranslations. The study seeks for elements that prove a reflection and a dialogue through time between the translator of the first translation and those of the other retranslations.
