Abstract: The Environmental Control Center (CCA) shelters a diverse population of animals from the entire municipality of Garanhuns, and can be used as an epidemiological indicator for parasites with zoonotic potential. Among parasitic diseases, we can highlight Ancylostomiasis caused by the parasites Ancylostoma caninum and A. braziliensis, which are responsible for causing cutaneous larva migrans after infective larvae actively penetrate the skin of humans. Another parasite of significant importance is Toxocara canis, which is responsible for causing visceral larva migrans after humans accidentally ingest the parasite's eggs. The objective of the study was to detect zoonotic parasites in dogs from the CCA, such as Ancylostoma spp. and Toxocara spp., responsible for important zoonoses affecting one health. 30 fecal samples were collected and analyzed using the Willis-Mollay parasitological technique. 70% (21/30) of the samples tested positive for Ancylostoma spp., of which 36.7% (11/30) had a simple Ancylostoma spp. infection, 20% (6/30) had co-infections with Cystoisospora spp., 6.7% (2/30) had co-infections with Toxocara spp., and 6.7% (2/30) had co-infections with both Cystoisospora spp. and Toxocara spp. Therefore, the circulation of zoonotic parasites in the CCA of Garanhuns, PE, has been confirmed, which is an important epidemiological indicator that the dogs in the municipality act as reservoirs for these zoonoses. Sanitary education and other prophylactic measures are of most importance, such as the use of footwear and gloves during activities involving contact with soil, as well as the creation of epidemiological bulletins for the monitoring of zoonoses.
