Abstract: This article from the dissertation work aimed to analyze the use of history textbooks in the last year of elementary school at the José Galdêncio municipal school in the city of Nhamundá-Am. Our objective in this research was not only to understand the context and place in which the school is located, to have a notion of how the textbook is used as part of a teaching methodology, but also to try to think about the vision of the people who use this teaching material, as well as its possibilities and limitations. The textbook, what we can see, presents itself as a viable resource within the existing difficulties and within the local context and difficulties. We also sought to carry out a bibliographical discussion to understand how the textbook was used by the Brazilian state and subsequently by the teacher in the classroom. How changes within the guidelines that regulate and regularize teaching help the teacher in the classroom to think about use and methodology for teaching. Starting from these discussions, we looked at the municipality of Nhamundá, but specifically at the José Galdêncio Amazonas municipal school.
