Abstract: The genus Staphylococcus aureus is classified as a gram-positive bacterium of great clinical relevance due to its ability to cause homeostatic damage to the host when identified in infectious foci. In addition to being found colonizing the natural microbiota of the skin and mucous membranes, this pathogen can become opportunistic, especially when related to infections in the hospital environment. However, with the change in antimicrobial resistance, the colonization profile has extended to healthy individuals in the extra-hospital environment. The clinical importance in the hospital setting is related to isolates classified as Methicillin-sensitive S. aureus (MSSA), but with priority given to Methicillin-resistant S. aureus. The present study aimed to analyze the antimicrobial sensitivity of S. aureus isolates, carried out at the University Hospital/UEL, from 2010 to 2023. This is a retrospective research. S. aureus samples were isolated from blood, urine, cavity fluids, skin and soft tissues, tracheal aspirate and purulent secretions. Identification and antimicrobial susceptibility were previously determined by the Vitek2® Automated System (bioMerieux). Data were obtained from the Hospital's computerized system.
