• Abstract:

  The lack of experimental work on

  an engineering undergraduate course of Naval

  Engineering overburden the scientific concepts

  elucidating taught on the followed courses. The

  learning through practical experiments, with

  the theory application towards the problem´s

  resolution and analysis with the comparison of

  theoretical and experimental results, offers to

  the students a reflection of theoretical models

  used on the construction of reality and it gives

  him an understood of its levels and confidence

  fields. Another important task is the major

  capability that the visual teaching leaded by

  experimentation. At last, we have seen that the

  experimental practice stimulates the learning,

  once this methodology capture the student´s

  attention and interest. This document describes

  the process of implementation of experimental

  work and classes in the first discipline of the

  Naval Architecture curriculum of the Naval

  Engineering undergraduate course at the

  UFRJ’s Polytechnic School. From the starting

  point where there was no access to practical

  or experimental practice, and lead by a

  consult research with the students on campus,

  proved their interest on a more practical and

  experimental methodology
