Abstract: This research is related to Science Teaching and aimed to suggest improvements in the teaching-learning of Chemistry in High School, specifically on the topic of evaporation, through a critical analysis of textbooks (LDs). The research proposes that LDs include in their writing: 1) The kinetic theory of gases and the Maxwell-Boltzmann molecular speed distribution curves, showing that molecules can evaporate even below the boiling point; 2) Dalton's equation, to explain the factors that influence the speed of evaporation; 3) Experiments and practical-investigative exercises that connect the topic with the students' daily lives and 4) Understanding the importance of evaporation for the environment and society. Information like this contributes to the development of a more complete representation for understanding evaporation in LD’s, in order to make learning more effective and meaningful.
