ANÁLISE COMPARATIVA ENTRE TÉCNICAS DE RADIOTERAPIA CONVENCIONAL E PRÓTON TERAPIA
O objetivo do trabalho é realizar uma revisão bibliográfica sobre o tratamento com feixes de prótons (próton terapia), este tem grande crescimento em países desenvolvidos, mas pelo alto custo de sua implementação, ainda não podemos desfrutar de sua eficácia aqui no Brasil. O tratamento direciona os feixes no tumor, matando as células cancerígenas e preservando os tecidos adjacentes, por ser uma inovação na Radiologia e na Medicina, ainda necessita de muitos estudos e instrução para os profissionais. O presente trabalho de conclusão de curso irá abordar as vantagens desse método para alguns tipos de câncer, analisar a incidência de um novo câncer após o tratamento, a quantidade de radiação utilizada, bem como, a dose recebida e o custo benefício do mesmo, assim como uma breve comparação com a radioterapia, tratamento mais comumente utilizado em quase todos os países e consequentemente mais barato. A importância do trabalho é explanar que há outros métodos muito eficazes de combate ao câncer, não só tratamento paliativos e informar profissionais de saúde sobre os grandes avanços tecnológicos em Radiologia.

Abstract:
The objective of the work is to bring a bibliographic review on the treatment with proton beams (proton therapy), this has a great growth in developed countries, but due to the high cost of its implementation we cannot yet enjoy its effectiveness here in Brazil. The treatment directs the bundles in the tumor, killing cancer cells and preserving the adjacent tissues, as it is an innovation in Radiology and Medicine, it still needs many studies and instruction for professionals. The present course conclusion paper will address the advantages of this method for some types of cancer, analyze the incidence of a new cancer after treatment, the amount of radiation used, as well as the dose received and the cost benefit of it, as well as a brief comparison with radiotherapy, treatment most commonly used in almost all countries and consequently cheaper. The importance of the work is to explain that there are other very effective methods to fight cancer, not only palliative treatment and to inform health professionals about the great technological advances in Radiology.
