• Abstract: In the current era, a significant portion of patients seeking orthodontic treatment express a preference for clear aligners over traditional braces. The main challenges arise in appropriately indicating each case, managing the digital workflow, and clinical control. Therefore, it is crucial that the orthodontist is proficiently skilled in the technique from the initial stages to case management. This study analyzes the evolution of digital orthodontics, exploring advantages and limitations of aligners, as well as addressing technological innovations, auxiliary mechanics, and clinical impact. Thus, to meet the proposed objectives, a search for articles was conducted in the Scielo, PubMed, and Virtual Health Library databases, selecting studies published in the last 5 years and available in Portuguese, English, and Spanish languages. Consequently, it was observed that despite the restrictions, aligners represent a viable option, especially when combined with auxiliary techniques (attachments, mini-implants, buttons, elastics), contributing to satisfactory outcomes and improvements in patients' quality of life.
