Abstract: In this article, I will seek to indicate some prerequisite knowledge to the study of metaphysics, according to Thomas Aquinas. The conception of these prerequisites is based on the model of interpretation regarding Thomas Aquinas that is called Aristotelian-Thomism. Thus, I will expound the arguments of three authors considered to be Aristotelian-Thomists: Herman Reith, Vincent Smith and Ralph McInerny. The first two present prerequisites acquired in natural philosophy, and the third present prerequisites acquired in logic. I adopt in this study two theses from Aristotelian-Thomism: (1) Thomas's philosophy has a fundamental agreement with Aristotle's philosophy, and (2) the study of metaphysics must be validated by some previous knowledge, such as for example and necessarily the demonstration of the existence of the first unmoved mover in natural philosophy. With this, the present article is part of an Aristotelian-Thomist introduction to the metaphysics of Thomas Aquinas.
