ALEITAMENTO MATERNO EXCLUSIVO E SUA INTERRUPÇÃO: CONHECIMENTOS E PRÁTICAS DE MÃES DE UM MUNICÍPIO DO INTERIOR MARANHENSE
Esse estudo tem por objetivo analisar
o conhecimento e a prática de mães do município
de Sucupira do Norte – MA acerca do aleitamento
materno exclusivo e as suas possíveis causas
de interrupção. Realizou-se uma pesquisa
qualitativa e descritiva-exploratória, nos meses
de agosto e setembro de 2017. Participaram do
estudo mães pertencente à Estratégia Saúde
da Família da zona urbana do município, que
possuíam filhos na faixa etária entre 0 e 6 meses
e que interromperam o Aleitamento Materno
Exclusivo. Os resultados demonstraram que o
perfil socioeconômico em sua maioria pertence
a faixa etária de 21 a 30 anos, com ensino médio
completo, e renda mensal familiar de até um
salário mínimo. A principal causa de interrupção
precoce da AME foi a necessidade de ajudar
na renda familiar, visto que a maior parcela de
mães possui renda inferior a um salário. Outro
aspecto foi a interrupção em decorrência de
doenças relacionadas à mama. O desmame,
segundo as mães, foi realizado sem orientações
adequadas de profissionais da saúde e com
substituição por leites industrializados. A
principal dificuldade encontrada pelas mães
durante a amamentação foi a dor, sendo esta
resultante da pega incorreta no peito, oriunda da falta de prática e educação. Torna-se
necessário trabalhar em torno de um objetivo comum que é viabilizar condições para
que as mães possam realizar o AME com segurança e eficácia, proporcionando saúde
e bem-estar tanto para si como para a criança. Sendo este um importante desafio para
todos os envolvidos na área da saúde.

Abstract:
This study aims to analyze the knowledge and practice of mothers in the
city of Sucupira do Norte - MA on exclusive breastfeeding and its possible causes of
interruption. A qualitative and descriptive-exploratory study was carried out in August
and September of 2017. Participants in the study were mothers belonging to the Family
Health Strategy of the urban area of the municipality, who had children between 0 and
6 months old and who interrupted Exclusive Breastfeeding. The results showed that
the socioeconomic profile in the majority belong to the age group of 21 to 30 years old,
with full secondary education, and monthly family income of up to a minimum wage.
The main cause of early interruption of SMA was the need to help with family income,
since the largest proportion of mothers had income below a salary. Another aspect
was the interruption due to diseases related to the breast. Weaning, according to the
mothers, was carried out without adequate guidelines from health professionals and
with replacement by industrialized milks. The main difficulty found by mothers during
breastfeeding was pain, which is the result of incorrect breastfeeding, resulting from
lack of practice and education. It is necessary to work around a common goal that is
to enable conditions for mothers to carry out the SMA safely and effectively, providing
health and well-being for themselves and the child. This is a major challenge for all
involved in the health area.
