ADRIANA VAREJÃO: REPRESENTAÇÃO, DIÁLOGOS E SÍMBOLO NAS ARTES PLÁSTICAS
A pesquisa analisa os símbolos como forma de expressão, não só artística, mas
de maneira sociocultural, quebrando paradigmas quando se refere a representação da figura
feminina por meio da obra Sereias Bêbadas, na série Pratos, de Adriana Varejão. Para
tanto, toma como suporte teórico os Estudos Culturais com Stuart Hall (2003) e Escosteguy
(2010), Peirce para a leitura semiótica e as referências sobre as obras de Schwarcz e
Varejão (2014), entre outros, fazendo uso de pesquisa bibliográfica, pautada no método
hermenêutico com o intuito de verificar como os símbolos presentes nos pratos transmitem
mensagens que tratam de memória, história e cultura.

Abstract:
The present research deals with symbols as a form of expression, not only
artistically, but in a sociocultural way, breaking paradigms when referring to the
representation of the female figure through the work Sereias Bébadas, in the series Pratos,
by Adriana Varejão. For that, it takes as a theoretical support the Cultural Studies with Stuart
Hall (2003) and Escosteguy (2010), Peirce for the semiotic reading and the references on the
works of Schwarcz and Varejão (2014), among others, making use of bibliographical
research, based on the hermeneutic method in order to verify how the symbols present in the
dishes transmit messages that deal with memory, history and culture.
