Abstract: The objective of this review was to evaluate the subcutaneous (SC) administration of antimicrobials for hospital use. The research method used was the narrative review of the literature and addressed the main antimicrobials that can be administered via SC, based on the standardized list of drugs in the Hospital das Clínicas complex of the Federal University of Minas Gerais, a public, general and university hospital, that serves patients with medium and high complexity pathologies acting as a care reference in the Unified Health System. The Cochrane Library®, MEDLINE® and LILACS databases were used as an interface, conducted in February 2021, without delimitation of publication date or language. Inclusion criteria were hospitalized patients aged 17 years or older, of both sexes; use of one or more of the chosen antimicrobials (ampicillin, cefepime, ceftriaxone, ertapenem, meropenem, teicoplanin). After the search, all identified citations were grouped and uploaded to the Rayyan platform (OUZZANI et al., 2016). Subsequently, the duplicates removed. Titles and abstracts were evaluated and selected according to the inclusion criteria defined for the review. Studies that met the inclusion criteria were read in full. The included studies underwent data extraction using a specific spreadsheet.
