Abstract: Syphilis is a systemic sexually transmitted infection (STI) that, when not treated early, has the potential to progress and present irreversible long-term sequelae. Therefore, adherence to treatment for pregnant women who test positive for syphilis is a constant challenge in the daily work of professionals working in Basic Health Units (UBS). The objective of this is to evaluate adherence to syphilis treatment by pregnant women in the city of Vilhena-RO in recent years. The study was carried out using data from the Notifiable Diseases Information System (SINAN), fed by compulsory notification forms, which consist of standardized forms with sociodemographic and clinical information on patients filled out by health professionals. Only cases of congenital syphilis in residents of Vilhena - RO registered in SINAN between 2011 and 2022 who met the criteria for defining confirmed cases according to the Ministry of Health and who did not receive adequate treatment were included. Syphilis has been increasing in incidence in recent years, mainly due to maternal non-adherence to treatment, as well as the fact that their partners do not receive treatment either. As a consequence of the lack of adherence, this results in an increase in cases of stillbirths and miscarriages. Therefore, as it is a disease whose diagnosis and treatment are low cost, it is necessary to review health strategies with regard to health promotion and prevention.
