ADENSAMENTO URBANO: ESTUDO DE CASO NO BAIRRO PAJUÇARA, PERIFERIA DA CIDADE DE NATAL/RN
O presente artigo se propõe a discutir o crescimento populacional das cidades brasileiras, que, por sua vez, em regra, deu-se por meio de uma dinâmica tardia, mas acelerada, e, em perspectiva, cumpre analisar o modo como os centros urbanos foram costurados para suportar a expansão do tecido demográfico. Nesse cenário, nasce a necessidade de estudos no sentido de adequar a infraestrutura das cidades ao inevitável adensamento urbano. Para tanto, lança-se mão da realização de pesquisa de campo em Pajuçara, zona periférica da cidade de Natal/RN, em conjunto com a colheita de dados extraídos do sítio eletrônico do Instituto Brasileiro de Geografia e Estatística (IBGE), bem assim a partir de informações obtidas por intermédio do programa de extensão “acesso à terra urbanizada”. Assim, possibilitou-se examinar os principais aspectos positivos e negativos do processo de expansão da população e da infraestrutura naquele território. Por fim, conclui-se que o bairro Pajuçara teve crescimento desordenado da malha periférica, aumentando, dessa forma, a densidade demográfica do bairro, fazendo-se imprescindível a implantação de políticas públicas, bem assim adequações ao plano diretor, com a finalidade de sanar, a curto e longo prazo, os problemas que ferem o bem-estar e segurança da população que ali habita.

Abstract:
This article aims to discuss the population growth of Brazilian cities, which, as a rule, occurred through a late but accelerated dynamic, and, in perspective, it is necessary to analyze how urban centers were sewn to support the expansion of the demographic fabric . In this scenario, there is a need for studies to adapt the infrastructure of cities to the inevitable urban density. For this, field research is carried out in Pajuçara, peripheral area of the city of Natal / RN, together with the collection of data extracted from the website of the Brazilian Institute of Geography and Statistics (IBGE), in addition to information obtained through the extension program. “Access to urbanized land”. Thus, it was possible to examine the main positive and negative aspects of the population and infrastructure expansion process in that territory. Finally, it is concluded that the Pajuçara neighborhood had a disorderly growth in the peripheral network, thus increasing the demographic density of the neighborhood, making it essential to implement public policies, as well as adjustments to the master plan, in order to remedy, in the short and long term, the problems that harm the well-being and safety of the population that lives there.
