AÇÕES DE ENFERMAGEM PARA PREVENÇÃO DE INFECÇÕES HOSPITALARES NA UNIDADE DE TERAPIA INTENSIVA
A equipe de enfermagem exerce um
papel de extrema importância na prevenção e
controle das infecções hospitalares. Objetivo:
identificar quais ações realizadas pela equipe de
enfermagem garante a segurança para controlar
as infecções hospitalares em unidade de
terapia intensiva. Método: Tratou-se de revisão
integrativa de literatura, de caráter descritivo,
realizada através de pesquisa bibliográfica em
bases de dados científicas eletrônicas como
a Literatura Latino-Americana e do Caribe em
Ciências da Saúde (LILACS) e a Scientific
Electronic Library Online (SCIELO) utilizando
os descritores obtidos a partir da definição de
Descritores em Ciências da Saúde no Portal
da Biblioteca Virtual em Saúde. Resultados:
Os resultados identificados apontam que a
maioria das infecções adquiridas na unidade de
terapia intensiva onde se encontram pacientes
gravemente enfermos foi desencadeada em
razão de complicações desenvolvidas pelas
ausências das técnicas essenciais ao cuidado,
e a não adesão aos protocolos existentes nas
instituições, que foram justificados pela elevada
distribuição de pacientes dentro de uma mesma
unidade e elevada carga horária de trabalho.
Conclusão: Concluiu-se que é fundamental
destacar quais ações independentes das
condições de trabalho precisam ser realizadas
rotineiramente para que ocorra a prestação de
uma assistência de qualidade e sem infecções
hospitalares. Sugere-se a ampliação de pesquisas desta natureza e a ampliação de
discussões sobre a temática entre os membros da equipe multiprofissional, pois a
adesão de protocolos e rotinas de prevenção e controle de infecções é essencial para
garantia da segurança e qualidade de vida dos pacientes.

Abstract:
The nursing staff plays an extremely important role in the prevention and
control of nosocomial infections. Objective: To identify which actions performed by
the nursing staff ensures safety to control nosocomial infections in an intensive care
unit. Method: This was an integrative descriptive literature review, conducted through
bibliographic research in electronic scientific databases such as Latin American and
Caribbean Health Sciences Literature (LILACS) and Scientific Electronic Library
Online (SCIELO). ) using the descriptors obtained from the definition of Health Science
Descriptors in the Virtual Health Library Portal. Results: The identified results indicate
that most infections acquired in the intensive care unit where severely ill patients are
found were triggered due to complications developed by the absence of essential
care techniques, and the non-adherence to the protocols existing in the institutions,
which were justified by the high distribution of patients within the same unit and the
high workload. Conclusion: It was concluded that it is essential to highlight which
actions independent of working conditions need to be performed routinely in order
to provide quality care and without nosocomial infections. It is suggested to broaden
research of this nature and broaden discussions on the theme among members of
the multidisciplinary team, because adherence to protocols and routines for infection
prevention and control is essential to ensure the safety and quality of life of patients.
