Abstract: Accidents caused by venomous snakes represent a serious public health issue, particularly in tropical regions with high biodiversity, such as Brazil. This study analyzed the epidemiological profile of snakebite accidents in the state of Pará from 2007 to 2019, using data from the Notifiable Diseases Information System (SINAN) of the Department of Informatics of the Unified Health System (DATASUS). During this period, 64,217 cases of snakebite accidents were reported in the region, highlighting its significance as a health problem. The profile of the victims showed a predominance of brown-skinned men in the economically active age group with incomplete elementary education. The Bothrops genus was responsible for the majority of cases, followed by Lachesis. Most individuals sought medical assistance within the first 6 hours, although challenges still exist in ensuring fewer severe accidents and complications. The study emphasizes the importance of educational strategies targeting specific population groups and preventive measures, as well as the need to improve medical care conditions in the region to reduce the number of accidents, their complications, and fatalities.
