ACIDENTES DE TRÂNSITO: TRAÇOS EPIDEMIOLÓGICOS E SEUS PROBLEMAS NA SAÚDE PÚBLICA

• Abstract: Traffic accidents are occurring more and more and with greater frequency due to the recklessness of many drivers and pedestrians. The behaviors adopted are disrespectful towards traffic signs, as well as driving vehicles at high speed and the abusive use of alcohol and drugs. In addition to these factors, there is inadequate training of drivers in relation to defensive driving and attitudes that must occur to avoid traffic accidents. The research is justified on the assumption that it is necessary to search for data that focus on the theme of the profile of traffic accident victims and on the problem in public health. This is a qualitative study, exploratory in nature, based on a literature review. Data collection was carried out in the Scielo, Must Library, Virtual Health Library (BVS) and Lilacs databases available in full and with free access, between the period from 2007 to 2022. The research took place during the months of April to November de 2022. With the population growth through expressive and accelerated urbanization process, the patterns have been changing over the years, including changes in the disordered land occupation pattern, observed in the last decades in developed countries. Thus, the negative effects on the quality of the environment in large cities and metropolitan regions are notorious, these changes directly influence the quality of life of individuals. Given the above, through the bibliographic research it was possible to observe how much the loss of functionality caused by the traffic accident impacts the patient's life, both in the professional and personal, social and public health spheres.
