Abstract: The expansion of today's food production has contributed to more and more agricultural machines being inserted in rural areas in order to guarantee efficiency and speed in agribusiness. On the one hand, the modernization of the countryside has brought improvements to cultivation and harvesting, increasing its productive capacity, but on the other hand, it presents more risks to the worker who operates the agricultural machinery. The tractor is one of the most important elements for the development of agriculture, however, if used incorrectly it can become a great risk for its operator and other people in the environment. Factors such as long working hours, lack of attention during operation and lack of training on the correct use of agricultural machinery are the main causes of accidents in rural areas. As a consequence of operators' negligence, we can mention collisions, rollovers and pedestrian accidents. These accidents can be avoided if there is more training on how to operate agricultural machinery, the correct use of protective equipment and a reduction in working hours. Taking this problem into account, the aim of this work is to understand the most recurrent causes of these accidents, as well as to contribute to a reduction in their occurrences, in addition to determining which protective equipment and operator conduct are necessary in activities carried out in the agricultural sector.
