Abstract: The aim of the work was to verify the effectiveness and performance of propolis being used for the purpose of treating secondary intention wounds in Wistar rats, as it is a product from bees that has in its composition a wide variety of substances for therapeutic use that can aid in the healing process. To carry it out, 30 male Wistar rats, weighing approximately 200g, were used and divided into 3 groups, group 1 received treatment with 0.9% saline, group 2 received treatment with aqueous extract of propolis and group 3 sunflower oil treatment. To analyze the results, samples were collected at 4 days, 7 days and 14 days of treatment. It was concluded that propolis extract had a greater beneficial effect by providing earlier epithelialization, detected at 7 days in histopathological evaluations.
