Abstract: Chlorpyrifos is an insecticide widely used to control pests in crops. Despite its benefits for agriculture, it is very harmful to organisms. 24 female Wistar rats, weighing approximately 200/250g, were used. The animals will be kept under controlled temperature and light conditions and with free access to food and water. The animals were divided into 4 groups, with 6 animals in each group. G1: received saline 2.0 ml/100g of weight; G2: received 125 ml/Kg of N-Acetyl cysteine in saline, G3: received 1 ml/Kg chlorpyrifos and 125 mg/Kg of N-Acetyl cysteine and G4: received 1 ml/Kg of chlorpyrifos, via IP. every 24 hours. The action of N-acetyl cysteine was verified in the liver, kidney and lungs intoxicated by chlorpyrifos in Wistar rats. It is concluded that the treatment carried out with N-acetyl cysteine was effective when compared to the group of animals that were not treated with N-acetyl cysteine.
