Abstract: Sickle cell anemia is considered the most common genetic, hereditary, and hematological disease worldwide, predominantly affecting the Southeast and Northeast regions. It is characterized by the presence of hemoglobin S (HbS), a mutation that alters the morphology of the hemoglobinstructure. Statistical studies in Brazil indicate approximately3500 children are affected by this condition annually. Thisresearch employed an exploratory, descriptive, and retrospective literature review using DeCS descriptors “SickleCell Anemia”, “Nursing”, and “Children” in the PubMeddatabase, complemented with MeSH same terms. The primaryobjective of this research was to explore advanced approaches in nursing care for children with sickle cell anemia, identifying the challenges encountered in diagnosis, treatment, and ongoing care. The results found highlighted the mainnursing approaches and advanced working techniques. Thisstudy underscored the complexity and intrinsic challenges in nursing care for children with sickle cell anemia. A multidisciplinary approach, along with the application of advanced practices, is essential to ensure quality care and a better quality of life for pediatric patients affected by thiscondition.
