Abstract: Peripheral vestibular syndrome is a common disease in small animal clinics. Clinical signs typically include head tilt, difficulty walking, nystagmus, tremors, strabismus, vomiting, and walking in circles. The most common cause of this syndrome is otitis interna, which normally progresses from otitis media. The diagnosis is based on clinical signs, otoscopic findings, radiography, cytology of the external auditory canal or material obtained through myringotomy, in addition to examination. detailed neurological and imaging exams. The therapeutic protocol and prognosis will be defined according to the etiology of the dysfunction and the patient's clinical condition. The objective of this study was to review peripheral vestibular disease in order to help understand the topic and establish the most appropriate diagnosis and treatment. The correct diagnostic and therapeutic approach is essential to obtain clinical improvement and thus ensure a better quality of life for patients with vestibular syndrome.
