A hemorragia do trato gastrointestinal baixo é definida como o sangramento que ocorre a jusante do ligamento de Treitz. As etiologias são diversas, sendo as principais: diverticulite, patologias anorretais e neoplasias. Contudo, abdome agudo hemorrágico e choque, tendo como causa hipertensão portal esquistossomótica, são raros.

Abstract: Lower gastrointestinal tract hemorrhage is defined as bleeding that occurs downstream of the ligament of Treitz. The etiologies are diverse, the main ones being: diverticulitis, anorectal pathologies and neoplasms. However, acute hemorrhagic abdomen and shock, caused by schistosomal portal hypertension, are rare.
