Abstract: This chapter presents an in-depth analysis of the relevance of children's voice and agency in the assessment of their learning within the context of Early Childhood Education. Based on a qualitative-interpretive case study, the focus is on the evolution of assessment from a technical concept to a formative and participatory practice. The study demonstrates that actively involving the child in the assessment, particularly through the use of the portfolio as a "treasure" and a self-assessment tool, promotes their ownership of the learning process. Data analysis, derived from observation and interviews, underscores the importance of continuous feedback and reflection for the child to become aware of their abilities and difficulties, thus assuming a protagonist role in regulating their educational journey.
