Abstract: This study aims to investigate women's experience at the moment of breast cancer diagnosis and examine the role of healthcare professionals in this context. We employed a qualitative approach and conducted a descriptive literature review. Data were collected from scientific articles published between 2012 and 2022, obtained from the Scielo and Biblioteca Virtual em Saúde (BVS) databases. The data were analyzed through thorough reading and categorization. Our findings provided an understanding of the challenges faced by women during breast cancer diagnosis, revealing gaps in professional training and aspects related to the disease experience.
