Abstract: The popularization of mental health diagnoses in childhood has led to increased labeling of children with ASD and ADHD, often without adequately considering social and environmental factors. This article analyzes how excessive screen time, lack of physical activity, and other aspects of modern lifestyle may be mistaken for symptoms of psychiatric disorders, resulting in premature diagnoses and early medicalization. Research indicates that the absence of motor stimulation, excessive use of electronic devices, and lack of social interaction can lead to behaviors that resemble symptoms of hyperactivity and childhood anxiety. The study concludes that diagnostic assessments should take environmental and contextual variables into account. It is crucial to avoid misdiagnoses and prioritize interventions that support healthy development before resorting to intensive psychological or pharmacological treatments.
