Abstract: The purpose of this paper was to critically interpret the short story Replica, published in the book In Her Neck (2017), by Nigerian author Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie (1977), addressing mainly the representation of the Nigerian black woman. It was also possible to interpret the woman's relationship with the patriarchal system of Nigerian society, in her position of submission to the man, nurtured over the years by the culture. This submission is constantly reiterated in the plot and is identified in some passages of the story, from the choice of the country in which she resides with her children, to the way she wears her hair. It was also necessary to analyze the relation of meaning between title and plot, which makes it possible to understand "replication" as a metaphor, in its various meanings: in art, in the friendship relation, in the family relation, among others present in the narrative. For this, it was used, as methodology, the bibliographical research in the area of Feminist Literary Criticism, with emphasis on the theorists Beauvoir (2016), Perrot (2009), Hooks (2015), Collins (2016). By analyzing the text in focus, it was possible to observe that the author uses a political language to denounce the oppression and silencing of black women. Through theoretical studies, one realizes the importance of studying works that deal with black feminism, because in this way one can contribute to the deconstruction of stereotypical ideas in relation to black women, which originated in the colonial period and are still present in society today.
