Abstract: The present study aimed to report the experience of nursing students during practical classes in a Surgical Clinic unit of a hospital located in the interior of the Lower Amazon region, focusing on the implementation of the Perioperative Nursing Care Systematization (SAEP). This is a qualitative and descriptive experience report, conducted through observations and supervised activities during the afternoon shift, accompanied by a faculty preceptor and a multidisciplinary team. During the experience, the students observed the use of the Nursing Process (NP) structured into five stages: nursing visit, care planning, implementation, evaluation, and restructuring of care. Practices such as nursing records, development of care plans, the use of assessment scales such as Braden and Fugulin, and care actions based on NANDA-I nursing diagnoses were identified. The preoperative nursing visit stood out as an essential moment for establishing a therapeutic bond and clarifying the patient’s doubts, promoting greater emotional security. The discussion highlights that SAE is a tool that organizes and qualifies care, supporting safer and more effective clinical decision-making. The experience provided students with the opportunity to integrate theory and practice, develop technical skills, enhance clinical reasoning, and strengthen their professional identity through teamwork and direct observation of both care and managerial practices. Therefore, the effective application of SAEP contributes to the organization of nursing actions, improves the quality of care, and promotes meaningful learning for future professionals, while ensuring comprehensive and patient-centered care.
