A Retórica da Evidência
Nos anos que seguem o chamado
“giro linguístico”, em que o crítico e historiador
estadunidense Hayden White iniciou uma
exploração das dimensões linguística, estética
e retórica da escrita da história, emerge
também um desconforto com o obscurecimento
das fronteiras entre história e literatura.
Com frequência, historiadores recorrem aos
argumentos da evidência e da autoria para
reassegurar a fronteira. Esta comunicação
pretende problematizar o quanto há de retórico
e estético na inclusão das evidências históricas
no código linguístico narrativo e o quanto
isso permite problematizar a estabilidade do
conhecimento histórico.

Abstract:
In the years following the so-called
“linguistic turn”, when the U.S. critic and historian
Hayden White began an inquiry as to the
linguistic, aesthetic and rhetorical dimensions
of historical writing, there also emerges a
discomfort towards the blurring of the borders
between history and literature. Frequently do
historians recur to the arguments of evidence
and authorship in order to reassure those
borders. This paper intends to problematize
how much there is of rhetorical and aesthetic
in the inclusion of historical evidence inside
the narrative linguistic code e how this allows
for a problematizing of the stability of historical
knowledge.
