A RELIGIOSIDADE E AS FONTES HISTÓRICAS NO CONTEXTO DA IMIGRAÇÃO ITALIANA EM SÃO JOÃO DO POLÊSINE, RS
O presente artigo faz um breve histórico sobre a vinda dos imigrantes italianos para o Rio Grande do Sul, mais precisamente para a região central do Estado, que hoje corresponde a região da Quarta Colônia. Dentro deste contexto será ressaltado a importância da religiosidade no processo de imigração, considerando as inúmeras dificuldades encontradas desde a partida do país de origem quanto na chegada aqui no Brasil. A fé sempre se fez presente na vida dos imigrantes italianos e isso foi fundamental, pois através dela eles tiveram força e coragem para se aventurar em busca de uma vida digna onde eles pudessem trabalhar e prosperar. No entanto, quando aqui chegaram, as dificuldades continuaram, pois encontraram péssimas condições de moradia e trabalho. Logo, nos dias atuais, encontramos fontes históricas que registram a religiosidade desse povo. Cada igreja, capitel, ermida, monumento possui uma história e vem sendo preservada por seus descendentes. Também será relatado a maneira que esses imigrantes demonstravam a fé em meio a formação desses locais que começaram a habitar, mais precisamente a religiosidade dos imigrantes italianos e seus descendentes na formação história e cultural, do município de São João do Polêsine.

Abstract:
This article makes a brief history of the arrival of Italian immigrants to Rio Grande do Sul, more precisely to the central region of the state, which today corresponds to the region of the Quarta Colônia. Within this context, the importance of religiosity in the immigration process will be highlighted, considering the numerous difficulties encountered since the departure from the country of origin and the arrival here in Brazil. Faith has always been present in the lives of Italian immigrants and this was fundamental, because through it they had the strength and courage to venture out in search of a dignified life where they could work and prosper. However, when they arrived here, the difficulties continued, as they found poor living and working conditions.Therefore, nowadays, we find historical sources that record the religiosity of this people. Each church, capital, hermitage, monument has a history and has been preserved by their descendants. It will also be reported the way these immigrants demonstrated their faith in the midst of the formation of these places that they began to inhabit, more precisely the religiosity of Italian immigrants and their descendants in the historical and cultural formation of the municipality of São João do Polêsine.
