Abstract: The school environment has traditionally been the place where school staff teach the knowledge they consider most relevant to young people's education. Thus, the importance of this place is indisputable, as is the proper functioning and relationship between the actors that make it up. When the interface between student and teacher is inadequate, the teaching and learning process may not take place effectively. Based on this, this study, which is bibliographical in nature but also guided by action research, was carried out with the aim of analyzing the behavior of students and teachers at the Federal Institute of Paraná, Assis Chateaubriand Campus, with regard to their relationship and its implication for their learning. Thus, the main objectives were: to understand how the school environment and the relationship between the parties involved in learning can influence student engagement, both behaviorally and cognitively; and also to understand how student attitudes interfere with teachers' interest in exercising their profession. To this end, theoretical texts and case studies related to the topic were analyzed, including the works of Vygotsky (1996), Martins (2011) and others; as well as the application of questionnaires to obtain answers about the relationship between the parties.
