A REESCRITA DA AMBIGUIDADE NARRATIVA: ESTUDO DE CASO DA TRADUÇÃO DE VULGO GRACE DE MARGARET ATWOOD
Este artigo apresenta os resultados do projeto de Iniciação Científica “A REESCRITA DA AMBIGUIDADE NARRATIVA: UM ESTUDO DE CASO NA TRADUÇÃO DE VULGO GRACE DE MARGARET ATWOOD”, no qual buscamos compreender a reescrita do romance Vulgo Grace, da escritora contemporânea Margaret Atwood, para o público brasileiro, a fim de entender como a ambiguidade narrativa do romance é reconstruída na tradução. Para tal, realizamos o mapeamento das publicações da escritora em Português brasileiro e em Inglês; em seguida, estudamos os referenciais teóricos que embasaram a pesquisa; e por fim, realizamos a análise da tradução. Utilizamos como aporte teórico as discussões de Venuti (2002) e Lefevere (2007) acerca de cânone doméstico e tradução; Dalcastagné (2007) a respeito da literatura feminina contemporânea; Zavaglia (2003) sobre a categoria ambiguidade; Friedman (2002) e Booth (1983) para discussão de ponto de vista e ambiguidade; Schwantes (2006) sobre representação feminina na literatura e Orlandi (1999) para discutir os discursos que constroem a protagonista/narradora. A análise textual focou nos quatro discursos médico existentes no texto, e como estes discursos constroem a protagonista durante a trama. Os resultados obtidos pela pesquisa apontam ampla produção em diversas áreas, desde edições para publicação até edições voltadas para a imprensa, percebemos que as suas obras mais traduzidas no Brasil se encaixam na categoria romance, e consequentemente, o cânone doméstico da escritora é caracterizado neste mesmo gênero literário. Concluímos também que a construção da personagem sob o ponto de vista médico/psiquiátrico é mantido na tradução, tal como a ambiguidade sob a qual a personagem é construída, bem como a forma que a protagonista utiliza-se destes discursos gerando a ambiguidade na narrativa através de uma personagem que deixa seu lugar de narrada, e ocupa papel ativo, escolhendo o que narrar, dentre as diversas narrativas que a entrecortam, criando assim sua própria colcha de retalhos.

Abstract:
This article presents the findings of “THE REWRITING OF NARRATIVE AMBIGUITY: A CASE STUDY ON THE TRANSLATION OF ALIAS GRACE FROM MARGARET ATWOOD”, in which we sought to understand the rewriting of the romance Alias Grace, from the contemporary author Margaret Atwood, to the Brazilian public, focusing on the rewriting of the narrative ambiguity. First, we mapped Atwood’s publications in Brazilian Portuguese and in English; we also studied theoretical references that served as basis for this research; and finally, we analyzed the translations. We used as theoretical references the discussions of Venuti (2002) and Lefevere (2007) about domestic canon and translation; Dalcastagné (2007) concerning contemporary feminine literature; Zavaglia (2003) regarding ambiguity; Friedman (2002) and Booth (1983) regarding the discussions of point of view and ambiguity; Schwantes (2006) about feminine representation in literature and Orlandi (1999) concerning the discourses that build the character/narrator. The focus of the textual analysis was the four medical discourses and how those discourses build the protagonist during the plot. The results obtained at the end of the research points to the wide production in several areas, such as editions to publication and editions focused on media; we could perceive that her most translated works on Brazil can be framed under the romance category, which points to her domestic canon being in this same literary genre. We could also conclude that the character construction under the medic/psychiatric point of view remains on the translation, so do the ambiguity that is built over the main character, as well as the way that the protagonist employs the several discourses set upon her to create ambiguity on the narrative via a character that leaves the status of described and takes the center spot as narrator, selecting what to tell, among the various discourses built about her, creating her own patchwork.
