A QUESTÃO INDÍGENA EM AMAMBAI-MS: UMA ANÁLISE DO CONTEXTO HISTÓRICO E DA ATUAL RELAÇÃO DOS GUARANI-KAIOWÁ COM O COMÉRCIO LOCAL
O presente trabalho é resultado de
um trabalho de conclusão de curso, durante
sua construção buscou-se fazer uma análise e
trazer reflexões acerca do papel do indígena no
comércio de Amambai-MS. Essa cidade está
localizada no sul do estado do Mato Grosso
do Sul, próximo à fronteira com o Paraguai.
Segundo dados do IBGE de 2010, a cidade
possui 35.523 habitantes, e destes, 8.807
(24,7%) são indígenas das etnias Guarani e
Kaiowá, que moram nas três aldeias que ficam
nos arredores da cidade, e também, há aqueles
que vivem dentro da área urbana. Esse elevado
percentual da população indígena se reflete
também no espaço urbano, especialmente no
centro comercial da cidade. Portanto, essa
pesquisa buscou demonstrar que apesar do
preconceito e da invisibilização sofrida por
estes povos, eles possuem grande relevância
na dinamização do comércio e são importantes
para a economia de Amambai.

Abstract:
The present paper is the result of
an assignment for course conclusion, during its
creation we sought to make an analysis and bring
up reflections about the role of the indigenous
people in the commerce in Amambai city, MS.
The city is located in the south of Mato Grosso
do Sul state, near the border with Paraguay.
According to the IBGE data of 2010, the city
has 35.523 inhabitants, from these inhabitants
8.807 (24,7%) are indigenous from the Guarani
and Kaiowá ethnicity who live in three different
villages located around the city, there are also
those who live in the urban area. This high
percentage of the indigenous population also
reflects in the urban area, especially downtown
near the stores. Therefore this research
sought to show that despite the prejudice and
infeasibility suffered by these people they have
great relevance in the dynamization of the
commerce and are important for the economy
of Amambai.
