Abstract: This paper addresses recent changes in the evaluation criteria for the scientific production of researchers and higher education programs of the Coordination for the Improvement of Higher Education Personnel (CAPES) for the 2025-2028 four-year period. Regarding the publication of scientific articles, the focus of evaluation shifts from journals to the articles themselves and their authors. Among the new criteria is the consideration of impact metrics, such as consultations and citations. However, regional factors, such as the precariousness of information resources in universities, lead to the phenomenon of the Scientist Influencer, considered as a professor and researcher who must develop the skills, competencies, and profile recommended for influencers on Digital Social Networks (DSM). The chapter discusses the effects of these changes on research ethics, academic productivity, and the profile required of researchers, especially in the context of the humanities. The chapter analyzes the impact of digital visibility on teaching careers, reflecting on the commodification of knowledge and the pressure for social media presence. Qualitative and exploratory research questions the boundaries between scientific dissemination and self-promotion. Ultimately, it suggests that, although the changes align with global trends, they require caution and reflection on working conditions at Brazilian universities to ensure that faculty have the freedom to exercise both their scientific and communicative roles.
