Abstract: This article analyzes the project "Child Mayor for a Day" from the perspective of citizenship education and child protagonism in municipal public management. The main objective is to investigate how the practical experience of the Executive Branch contributes to the political literacy of elementary school students. Methodologically, the study is characterized as qualitative and descriptive research, based on a literature review and analysis of technical and financial feasibility. The results indicate that, when institutionalized as a State policy, the project transcends its symbolic nature, offering precise social diagnoses to the administration and fostering socio-emotional skills in the participants. It is concluded that the initiative is a low-cost, high-social-impact tool, essential for democratic consolidation and the humanization of public institutions.
