A MORTE E O MORRER EM PACIENTES ONCOLÓGICOS: A PERCEPÇÃO DOS PERSONAGENS ENVOLVIDOS
O contexto oncológico invariavelmente é atrelado ao estigma da morte e do processo de morrer como objetos de sofrimento e angústia aos personagens envolvidos no cenário da doença. O diagnóstico de câncer evoca a pacientes e familiares a percepção da terminalidade da vida, evidenciando a finitude do tempo e a brevidade da presença humana, que muitas vezes é confrontada de forma dolorosa e como instrumento de martírio ao paciente oncológico. Destarte, este trabalho objetiva desmistificar o processo de morrer e salientar que a compreensão das dimensões que compõem o ser humano faz-se essencial para construção de uma rede de cuidado que permite reconhecer a morte como parte integrante da vida e oferecer dignidade a pacientes e familiares envolvidos na conjuntura da terminalidade. O presente estudo é uma revisão narrativa, cujos dados foram levantados na base de pesquisa SciELO e na revista de Enfermagem da Universidade de São Paulo, nos meses de abril e maio de 2019, acerca da temática das percepções sociais do processo de morte e morrer em pacientes oncológicos, utilizando os seguinte descritores: morte e morrer e terminalidade oncológica. Desestigmatizar e conceber a morte como um processo natural da existência humana permite que pacientes portadores de doenças crônicas graves, como o câncer, e seus familiares arrostem de forma esperançosa a doença e descortinem a finitude do tempo como oportunidade para valorização da vida e legitimação da dignidade humana.

Abstract:
The oncologic context is invariably linked to the stigma of death and the dying process as objects of suffering and anguish for the characters involved in the scenario of the disease. The diagnosis of cancer evokes in patients and family members the perception of the terminality of life, showing the finitude of time and the brevity of the human presence, which is often confronted in a painful way and as an instrument of martyrdom to the oncologic patient. Thus, this work aims to demystify the dying process and stress that the understanding of the dimensions that make up the human being is essential to build a network of care that allows the recognition of death as an integral part of life and to offer dignity to patients and families involved in the juncture of terminality. The present study is a narrative review, whose data were collected in the SciELO research base and in the Nursing Journal of the University of São Paulo, in the months of April and May 2019, about the theme of social perceptions of the process of death and dying in cancer patients, using the following descriptors: death and dying and cancer terminality. To destigmatize and conceive death as a natural process of human existence allows patients with serious chronic diseases, such as cancer, and their families to bear the disease in a hopeful manner and to unveil the finitude of time as an opportunity to value life and legitimize human dignity.
