A MORTE E O MORRER: A PERCEPÇÃO DOS PROFISSIONAIS DE SAÚDE NA ASSISTÊNCIA A PACIENTES ONCOLÓGICOS TERMINAIS
O morrer, além de ser um processo biológico, é também um processo psicossocial e espiritual, e pode ser vivenciado de diferentes maneiras tanto pelo paciente, como pela família e pelos próprios profissionais de saúde. A presença de uma doença terminal em pacientes que necessitam de intervenções e cuidados especiais, impõe sobre os profissionais de saúde sentimentos complexos e ambivalentes. O objetivo deste estudo foi conhecer a percepção sobre a morte e o morrer de profissionais de saúde que lidam diretamente com pacientes oncológicos em estado terminal. A metodologia foi a pesquisa de campo, exploratória, quantiqualitativa realizada junto a profissionais da saúde de uma unidade de alta complexidade em oncologia da rede estadual de saúde do Amapá. A amostra teve 10 profissionais de diferentes categorias, entre profissionais de nível médio e superior, englobando técnicos de enfermagem, enfermeiros, assistentes sociais, médicos e psicólogos. Os resultados indicam que para a maioria dos profissionais de saúde a morte é um aspecto natural da vida; alívio do sofrimento e união com Deus. Para os que lidam com esta realidade diariamente a percepção e seus desdobramentos acerca da morte e morrer, foram se moldando no decorrer do tempo e na prática. As considerações finais trazem a compreensão de que quando o paciente recebe o diagnóstico de câncer, seu pensamento cria um turbilhão de sensações e sentimentos que podem interferir no seu processo do tratamento. Conhecer a realidade de uma unidade de oncologia, nos possibilitou ampliar o olhar, refletir de uma maneira única e significativa sobre a finitude e os diversos aspectos subjetivos envolvidos na atuação profissional no ambiente de oncologia pelos profissionais de saúde.

Abstract:
Dying, besides being a biological process, is also a psychosocial and spiritual process, and can be experienced in different ways by the patient, family and health professionals themselves. The presence of a terminal illness in patients who judge the functions and special care, imposes on health professionals complex and ambivalent. The aim of the study was to understand the perception of death and dying of health professionals who deal directly with cancer patients in terminal state. The methodology was a field, exploratory, quantitative and qualitative research carried out with health professionals from a highly complex oncology unit in the health network of Amapá. The sample had 10 professionals from different categories, including professionals with high-school and higher education, including nursing technicians, nurses, social workers, and psychologists. The results indicate that for most health professionals, death is a natural aspect of life; reduction of suffering and union with God. For those who deal with this reality on a daily basis, the perception and its consequences about death and dying have been shaped over time and practice. The final considerations bring the understanding that when the patient is diagnosed with cancer, their thinking creates a whirlwind of sensations and feelings that can interfere in their treatment process. Knowing the reality of an oncology unit allowed us to broaden our gaze, reflect in a unique and effective way on the finiteness and the various subjective aspects involved in the professional performance in the oncology environment by health professionals.
