A MODA E A POBREZA NO RIO DE JANEIRO NA OBRA DE LIMA BARRETO
Apresentar que em muitas obras literárias há uma forte presença da indumentária e da moda, através do contexto social vivido em meados do século XX no Rio de Janeiro. Buscou-se analisar o comportamento dos personagens da obra Triste fim de Policarpo Quaresma, do autor Lima Barreto, tendo foco no personagem principal, Policarpo Quaresma, que possuía ideias contrárias às demais figuras do livro. O final do século XIX e início do século XX, foram uma época marcada por transformações sociais e demográficas. Houve o fim da escravidão, consequentemente, novas populações movimentavam a cidade. Esses novos habitantes eram mal vistos na sociedade, fazendo com que a elite quisesse se livrar dessas pessoas. Assim, o objetivo principal é olhar como a moda está presente nas representações feitas no livro sobre a cidade do Rio de Janeiro, além das análises das pessoas que lutaram por sobrevivência e eram marginalizadas pela sociedade injusta do período.

Abstract:
To present that in many literary works there is a strong presence of clothing and fashion, through the social context of mid-20th century Rio de Janeiro. The aim was to analyze the behavior of the characters in Lima Barreto's Triste fim de Policarpo Quaresma, focusing on the main character, Policarpo Quaresma, who had ideas contrary to the other characters in the book. The late 19th and early 20th centuries were a time marked by social and demographic changes. With the end of slavery, new people moved into the city. These new inhabitants were frowned upon in society, and the elite wanted to get rid of them. Thus, the main objective is to look at how fashion is present in the book's representations of the city of Rio de Janeiro, as well as the analysis of the people who fought for survival and were marginalized by the unjust society of the period.
