Abstract: This study focuses on the representations of the cultural manifestation of Boi Brabo in the Jardim II class at E.M.E.I. José de Moraes Bittencourt Cohén, located in Carapajó/Cametá, in order to understand how this folk tradition can be used as a strategy to encourage reading among children in early childhood education. The research is based on a theoretical framework. For this purpose, studies by authors who work on the subject were used, which Batista e Amorim (2008), Freire (1996), Brandão (2017), among other authors and works that contributed to this study, stand out. As a research method, dialectical historical materialism was adopted, based on the writings and conceptions of thinkers such as Marx and Engels (2007; 2011). Using a qualitative methodology, document analysis and an open-ended questionnaire were used as instruments. The results were obtained through Bardin's Content Analysis (2011). The research subjects were three (03) teachers from the school. Finally, it is intended that the results of this research can encourage innovative ways to work on reading in Early Childhood Education, valuing the cultural and contextual aspects of students.
