Abstract: Domestic violence in Brazil remains a major public health issue with significant social and economic impacts. The enactment of the Maria da Penha Law in 2006 marked a significant step in protecting women by establishing measures to combat domestic violence. However, its implementation still faces substantial challenges, such as a lack of resources, cultural resistance, and inequality in the enforcement of protective measures. This study aims to analyze the effectiveness of the Maria da Penha Law in addressing domestic violence, highlighting both its limitations and advancements. Conducted through a literature review, the research revealed that although the legislation has made progress, such as the criminalization of femicide and strengthening protective measures, its implementation is hindered by factors like the lack of victim awareness and inadequate training for professionals. The paper also discusses the importance of using technology to improve reporting and monitoring strategies, emphasizing the need for effective awareness campaigns and greater integration between the justice, security, and social assistance systems.
